Celebrating our vollies

National Volunteer Week is always a great opportunity to sing the praises of our much-loved vollies!

To celebrate the annual Week in May, the Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) hosted get-togethers to thank the teams who generously donate their time to welcoming visitors to the region.

Each volunteer was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by CHDC Board Directors and Central Highlands Regional Councillors Gai Sypher and Karen Newman.

Thirty-five people volunteer across our four visitor service locations: the accredited Visitor Information Centre in Emerald; the Duaringa Historical and Visitor Information Centre; Springsure’s Federation Woolshed and Tourism Information Centre; and the Blackwater International Coal Centre.

By greeting and helping tourists in our region, these volunteers make an important contribution to our local visitor economy.

Last week’s event in Emerald doubled as a birthday celebration for two volunteers, Jeanette and Jean.
