Emerald Neighbourhood Centre
The Emerald Neighbourhood Centre (ENC) is a not-for-profit organisation, focused on helping the local community to build long-term, sustainable social capital and to develop a sense of community and social cohesion.
This organisation exists to serve the Emerald community by providing information, referral and support services, as well as a number of community outreaches and initiatives. This service is vital to the Central Highlands region and our local community.
The Emerald Neighbourhood Centre coordinates programs that support individuals and families across the region such as;
- Emergency Relief
- Linking Alms for Christmas
- Community Visitors
- Alternative learning Centre
- Day to Day living
Some interesting conservative facts that you may not know about this organisation from January – October 2014:
- Over 1000 community members sort information, advice or referral.
- Over 850 clients received emergency relief (food, fuel, bill payments etc.).
- Over 45 people stated that they are homeless.
Coming into the holiday season we are truly blessed to have such an organisation that provides support to those who need it most. Programs coordinated by the Centre such as the Linking Alms for Christmas Appeal and Adopt a Family makes a real difference to the region. Central Highlands Regional Council and the Emerald Neighbourhood Centre have also joined forces this holiday season to inspire local businesses throughout the Central Highlands region to encourage the community to “Shop Local”, with a fantastic competition to make Christmas even more spirited!
Prizes consist of three (3) “Shop Local” gift wallets, valued at: $3000 (1st Prize); $1500 (2nd Prize) and $500 (3rd Prize). See more information here.
