Troy Cassar-Daley comes to Capella with Legend & the Locals!
Legend & the Locals is returning in 2019 with country music Legend Troy Cassar-Daley. Performing in 10 towns across regional Queensland, including Capella, Troy will collaborate with hundreds of our local musicians for a very special series of shows!
Legend & the Locals is a community project that is all about supporting the talent in the regions by facilitating musical collaborations between the Legend and the locals. The locals then perform alongside Troy, becoming a major part of each of the shows.
Troy is regarded as one of Australian country music’s finest singer/songwriters. In over 30 years in the music industry, Troy has received a long list of accolades including 4 ARIAs, 37 Golden Guitars, 2 APRA Country Song of the Year awards, 9 Deadlys, 4 CMAA Entertainer of the Year awards and 2 NIMAs. With numerous gold and platinum records, Troy has achieved a staggering 31 number 1 chart singles.
Troy will work with our regional locals in several ways. A local choir in each town will rehearse and accompany him for two songs, Troy will sing a duet with a local singer, he’ll work with local songwriters on how to craft their music as well as giving advice on how to navigate the music industry, and a local musician will also kick the night off as the first support act in each town.
“Troy has a reputation for connecting with people on a very personal level which makes him perfect for working with our locals. I just know they are going to come away feeling totally inspired and able to achieve bigger and better things because of their time with him!” Kate Schlick, Tour Coordinator.
The Capella event will be held on Thursday August 15th at the Capella Cultural Centre. It is a FREE event but seats need to be reserved. For a link to show details, head to legendandthelocals.com.au.
Troy will be supported by inspiring Queensland act, Melody Moko. Since releasing her debut album “The Wreckage” Melody has toured with most of the cream of the country industry including The McClymonts, and a US tour with Catherine Britt.
This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal with thanks to the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.
